Iran welcomes expansion of ties with Qatar

TEHRAN, Jun. 09 (MNA) – On a phone conversation with Qatar Emir, President Rouhani underlined Tehran’s eager to expand ties with Doha, calling Qatar-Iran ties brotherly.

President Hassan Rouhani, on a phone conversation with Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on Wednesday, while congratulating the Qatari nation and government on advent of Holy Ramadan stressed the common interests of Tehran and Doha in the region and said “Iran and Qatar could achieve these aims of regional stability and development through more cooperation and consultation.”

“Regional issues need to be resolved through negotiations and Tehran is ready to further cooperation and consultation with friend neighbors including Qatar,” asserted president.

Rouhani, while welcoming the necessity of strategic talks between regional countries, emphasized that Iran has always been seeking the goodness and safety of regional states and hopes to work further in direction of regional stability and security, which would benefit all, via cooperation.

Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, for his part, extended his congratulation on advent of Ramadan to President Rouhani and said “Qatar is honored for its close friendly ties with Iran and I hope to witness the increasing expansion of ties.”

Stressing Iran’s key and strategic role in settling down the regional issues, Qatari Emir underlined that Doha is after establishment of strategic and friendly ties between Tehran and littoral states of Persian Gulf.

He also emphasized that Iran-Qatar strategic ties are deepening far from intervention of a third party.
